Prayer, Creativity & Faith

Got a minute? That’s all it takes to give thanks.

I’ll only take a minute or two of your time. Much like my new journal.

My daughter gave me a gratitude journal for Christmas, and I’ve really enjoyed getting back into the practice of looking back over my days and remembering. I noticed that my gratitude entries read more like a diary—things I wanted to remember and be able to look back on, years down the road. I started imagining what my ideal gratitude journal would look like.

The main thing I loved about the journal I received is that it only took a minute or two each night to write about one single thing. So I kept that as my top priority and began asking questions:

  • Would it offer guided prompts?
  • Would it leave space for a plain list?
  • Rather than being the same on every spread, like the one I received, would it change things up a bit?
  • Would it be filled with inspiring, thoughtful quotes?

Basically, yes to all of the above. And then, as I’ve been known to do, I sat down at my computer and started designing.

I compiled my favorite quotes about gratitude (many of which had been sitting in a folder for years). I came up with a fun B&W graphic style that didn’t feel too serious (and would look awesome if you write with colored markers or doodled or colored on the pages). I incorporated lined pages without prompts for those notes or lists or random moments you’d like to record. I left a few pages blank for doodling. And then I uploaded the finished product to KDP, Amazon’s print-on-demand service, so that I could share it with anyone who wanted to try something new.

And yet, in the ways that count, it’s not completely new. It’s just another expression of the tried-and-true practice of being intentional about gratitude. Of acknowledging the beauty and blessings in your life. Of taking time to give thanks. Of paying attention to the ordinary and mundane—as well as the extraordinary. Of cherishing the people who fill our lives with beauty and with love. And of noticing and remembering the One to whom we give thanks.

Won’t you take a minute to check it out? It’s only $6.99 on Amazon. If you are unable to purchase on Amazon, I do keep a few copies in stock, so get in touch with me to buy direct.

I am so excited about this new journal and I hope you love it!
